The longest month (without being paid!) is almost over, so time to start thinking about the goodies that your paycheck can be used on. What games are coming out in February to tempt you to open your virtual wallets? Let’s take a look at what the team are excited about:
February 2020

Sam
Game: Tsukiji
Why: A bit of a cheat this month as there’s actually nothing at all I am interested in listed for February – so I’ve opted for one of the January games that hasn’t yet appeared. Tsukiji is the famous fish market in Tokyo which, until it recently moved to a different location, was the largest seafood market in the world.
In the board game, players are chefs of restaurants trying to secure the best fresh fish for their sushi by way of auction… so it’s an auction based set collection type game. Think Modern Art with fish!
As for why? I’m a Japanophile, as discussed in the show before, and in June I’m heading to Japan for the first time – and I’ll be checking out Tsukiji itself and searching out some of the weird and wonderful street food available there!

Joel
Game: A Fistful of Meeples
Why: I too am struggling to pick one item that I would like from the Feb preorder listing. so I am, like Sam, picking from January list, however, this game is already in the shop. I believe I can count this because by the time I am able to collect it and play it, will be at the first Meeples’ Corner game night of February. It is the mancala type of game, worker placement set in the wild west. It is a small game that packs a good saloon punch, it could be classified as a filler game it is that quick to play. Set in a high street of an old west town, there are buildings filled with randomly placed meeple workers (Builders, Lawmen, robbers, miners) lining both sides of the street. 2-4 players will take turns to pick up all the meeples in one of the buildings then a place one in each spot outside the next buildings and takes actions depending on the meeple’s job that was placed. There are even shot outs which involve each person rolling a D6 dice and see who has the highest. The looks quick compact and fun, I am really looking forward to getting this, this coming Friday.

Price: £18.50
