It’s been a slow start to the year for new releases that really get the buzz going at Devon Dice Towers. And now with the coronavirus outbreak in China, things are even worse as games aren’t making their way across the seas while they attempt to deal with the crisis… but let’s see what should hopefully be making an appearance during March:
March 2020

Game: Fallout Shelter: The Board Game
Why: Fallout is one of those game series I really want to love. I’ve bought and attempted to play both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 and have never made it far, in all honesty. I just don’t know what it is about the games that stops me making much progress, considering it is a sci-fi version of Skyrim (which I loved and played ad nauseum).
However, the Fallout Shelter game which hit mobile a few years ago was a bit of a revelation – a clever way of using the IP and delivering a totally different game experience – that of, essentially, a sim-Shelter building game. Now making its way to the tabletop courtesy of FFG, it should be a neat little tableau/engine builder. Maybe this is the Fallout game for me after all…

The meeples’ corner’s March pre-order sheet look pretty much the same as my backlog of Kickstarter game this to recieve.
MD Rush and The experiences expansion to Pursuit of Happiness both from Artpia Games has been belayed forever, it feels like and should be in transit to me now. It’s a Wonder Life I do have now and you see my review and unboxing here. Carnival Zombie has a new 2nd edition arriving after its Kickstarter funding and I used to own the first edition and enjoyed it but I’m not interested in playing it again. A new expansion for The Age of Artisans is an expansion for Architects of the West Kingdom should add more the base game, I hope. Downforce: Wildside, I help playtest these tracks, double-sided board again one track has ramps and jumps on it to add drama and the other is a not a lap but a rally track through Africa where there might animals in your way and nasty blocking tactic used, I liked this side the best. Pharaon is a game that has big hype and one day I would like to try it, but the game I have preordered this month is …

Game: Horroried
Why: I have seen a couple videos playthroughs and review of this game and it looks like quite good fun, you are working together tracking down stopping the Horrors of a 60’s B movie cast as they try and fulfil their goals. And you have to deal with the locals and other events and carries a strong cast of monsters, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon. I have preordered this from Meeples’ corner now and hope to pick it up soon.

Game: Shards of Infinity: Shadow of Salvation Expansion
Why: Love the base game to the point that I don’t feel the need for it to be expanded. But if they’re going to do it, I’m going to buy it. I enjoyed the first expansion and how it brought relevance to your starting character. I’m interested to see how this one takes the game into cooperative play. Great value as well. I know it’s only a deck of cards but it’s a lot of gameplay for your money.
